Hiring an Internet Marketing Service – Keeping it Safe

A frequent mistake that businesses make is hiring an internet marketing company too quickly — primarily based on price. Your website is a visual representation of your business and a poorly designed site can frustrate visitors, misrepresent your products and even lose sales. Before you hire an internet marketing firm, research the answers to these questions:

1. How Much Experience Does The Internet Marketing Company Have? Do They Have Any Special Qualifications Or Specialties?

Longevity in the industry is a good indicator of stability and skill. Online marketing firms that have been in the business for a while and built admirable reputations are usually known for sound design work and customer service. Choosing an internet marketing company that has been around longer means they will be more likely to be around in the future for ongoing maintenance and updates to your website.

The answer to this question will give you a general idea about the skill set at the web company. Having a tertiary education is good. Having a lot of experience is better, and combining experience with a tertiary education is best.

2. How Many Staff Members Do They Have And What Are Their Roles?

Bigger is not necessarily better when it comes to effective web e-marketing. Companies on average have one designer, a couple of web developers, analysts, and a few sales and support people. Some companies use Just-in-Time staffing, adding or removing staff as needed. This helps keep overhead low and skills fresh.

3. In Addition To Internet Marketing, What Other Services Does The Agency Offer?

Many prominent internet marketing firms are branching out and offering other services, including web development and design. SEO, Search Engine Marketing, Web Content Writing, Social Media Marketing, Blog promotion, and Google AdWords Management are services offered by many experienced online marketing companies. The key is finding a company that offers the services that you are looking for.

4. Does The Internet Marketing Firm Spend Time With You To Gather Business Knowledge And Give You A Formal Proposal?

It is good to select a web marketing company that will take the time to offer a custom solution for your website. Oftentimes, the online marketing firm will provide you with a questionnaire to fill out so that they can get a better feel for your goals, competition and overall website needs. Your website will play a large part in your overall brand marketing. Therefore, it is important that your internet marketing firm have a clear picture of your overall marketing goals.

5. What Are the Internet Marketing Company’s Payment Terms?

For anything from a small non-profit site to full corporate branding, most internet marketing companies will charge an upfront deposit and stage payments based on agreed milestones and deliverables. Be wary of any internet marketing firm that asks for payment in full before starting the project.

6. What Is The Internet Marketing Company’s Policy On Non-Disclosure And Privacy Of Information?

In order to create the perfect marketing plan for you, your internet marketing firm needs access to important information about your company — information you wouldn’t want your competition, or anyone else, to know.

This is particularly true if you are starting a new company. You don’t want others to steal your concept before you’ve had a chance to monetize it. Therefore, a solid non-disclosure and privacy policy will protect your information.

7. What Are The Average Timelines For Completing Your Web Design Project Including Ecommerce, Logo Design, And Corporate Branding?

If the company does both web development and internet marketing, ask what the firm considers a typical turn-around time for projects similar in size to your own. This should give you a fairly clear idea if the website designer/developer has time tracking and project management systems in place. If you have a hard deadline that you need to meet, be sure you tell the design company up front so that they can plan accordingly.

8. Who Will Be Your Central Point Of Contact For Your Internet Marketing Project?

It is important to have a single point of contact for your project to ensure nothing gets lost in translation. A Project Manager should be assigned to all web projects. If you are working with a small web company, however, the Project Manager may also be the web designer and/or web developer himself.

9. Does The Company Outsource Any Project Components To Third Parties Or To Countries Like India? If So, Which Components?

While outsourcing may be a valid business decision to save costs and keep overhead low, you’ll want to be cautious with any internet marketing company that takes your project and out-sources large components to another country. If you have concerns about low quality, cheap labor, and remote project management issues when jobs are outsourced to India, be sure to bring them up before your project begins.

10. Can The Internet Marketing Company Help With Website Content Copy Writing?

SEO copywriting can make or break your website. Your website design may draw the reader in and focus their attention where it needs to be, but the words themselves do the selling. And if the content is optimized correctly, your website can be showing up on the front pages of the search engines for your chosen search terms.

Be sure the internet marketing firm you choose offers copywriting and ask to see samples — particularly samples of sites within your same industry. This will give you a good foundation on which to base your decision.

11. What Programming Languages And Operating Systems Does The Internet Marketing and/or Web Development Company Work With?

Ideally, your web development company should offer both the open source PHP/MySQL and ASP.NET programming languages. They should make a technical recommendation on which

Platform would best meet your needs and budget.

12. Do The Internet Marketing And Web Development Experts Build Websites To Web Standards?

Standards compliance, such as W3C and Web Standards Group are highly recommended industry practices. The main reason is consistency in how your visitors view your website on different platforms and future proofing.

13. What Is Covered In The Firm’s Website Testing/Quality Checking Phase? Are You Able To See The Website While It Is Still In Development?

Basic testing requirements should be browser testing, checking for broken links and general usability tests to ensure the website is easy for website visitors to use and interact with.

By seeing a development staging version, you will be able to check the website before the launch date and make any necessary adjustments.

14. Does The Internet Marketing Firm Allow Clients To Host Their Websites With Any Host?

Sometimes, for the sake of functionality or other good reasons, a web company may ask that you host your website with them, but this is not always the case. You may have existing commercial relationships with an ISP or web hosting company that you would prefer to use. It is important to know before hiring an internet marketing firm if they will require you to move hosting to them.

15. Do They Provide Any Training Once The Website Is Launched?

If your website project includes customized systems or software, it can be extremely helpful if your internet marketing company provides you with training documents for future reference. If your system is very detailed, it might even be optimal to arrange for a training program or ongoing customer support. However, this is really only necessary if you plan on hosting the website yourself or you have your own people to support it after development.

16. Is The Internet Marketing Firm Knowledgeable in Web 2.0? Is This Included In Your Quote, Or Are There Extra Charges?

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a science in itself; an experienced Internet marketing company should be able to offer you a variety of options including organic, PPC and social media marketing as well as online advertising. Depending on your business requirements, you should consider hiring an internet marketing company that can create a custom online campaign to help you achieve maximum results.

Usually there is an extra charge for single items like developing videos, commercials and ads, photo shoots, copywriting and so on. Ask about these if they are part of your marketing plan.

17. What Is The Charge For Website Updates After The Initial Website Is Completed?

While marketing is an ongoing process, the website is often considered a one-time effort. But there is always extra work to be done: changes and updates, new content and so on.

Be aware of the charging structure for updates to your website. Consider how often you will require updates and ask the internet marketing firm how they handle future updates and maintenance.

If you have frequent or large updates to your website, you could consider a Content Management System. A CMS is only really useful in the event of regular changes and if a staff member has good training in it. If neither are the case, it may just be cheaper to have the supplier to manage small updates.

18. What If You Find A Problem Or Code Bug After The Site Is Finished? Does The Graphic Design Company Have Any Kind Of Code Warranty Or Guarantee?

Often web companies will make the change if it is small for no additional costs. However, be aware that if it is a change and not a bug fix, you may be required to pay extra. Typically, internet marketing companies will give you several designs to approve initially and then involve you every step of the way. Each approved section of the project is considered finished. Going back and making changes — even if they seem simple — can be costly.

19. Is The Copyright For The Website Transferred To You When The Project Is Complete? What About Images in The Website? Logo Design?

Copyright law is a specialized legal field. You should ask to own the copyright on all of the work designed and developed after you have paid in full for the project.

20. Will The Website Development Company Comment Your Source Code?

Commenting code is part of good website development. If code is commented well, you won’t spend a lot of time if the unthinkable happens and you’re forced to find another website supplier either part way through the project or its maintenance.

Finding the answers to these questions may seem time consuming and quite involved, but it is an important part of the interview process. After you have interviewed several companies and had your questions and concerns addressed, you should be able to select a talented internet marketing and web development company that is knowledgeable and easy to work with. The firm you choose also needs to have the ability to produce a web design and website that represents and enhances your overall corporate branding.

Of course, you could choose to not follow our suggestions and just hire the least expensive firm available — or a friend of a friend who does graphic design and internet marketing. But then you could end up with a real mess. Your internet business depends on how good you look. You wouldn’t ask a friend to install a new set of teeth for you, would you?

Internet Marketing Firm – Why You Should Consider Utilizing One, How to Find a Good One

Developing quality products or possessing a high-level of expertise is not everything that is required to be a successful business. Presentation of your products or services is just as important as the quality of your products or services. You won’t find any Fortune 500 company owner disagreeing with that. You even won’t find any successful, small- to medium-sized business owner denying that. The reason is a no-brainer: Would you be likely to purchase a product or hire a service that is marketed

    Internet Marketing Plan

Learn How to Build Automated Traffic Machines

    Internet Marketing Plan

When marketing online, a solid internet marketing plan will make your campaigns successful. Right now the internet is in such a state that it is very easy to get overwhelmed! Stop! Don’t consider dropping out of the “game” until you have put your internet marketing plan to action.

    Marketing Strategies

What online marketing options that are available to you? Online, there are a number of strategies you can begin using. Here are 3 rather broad areas you can use: 1) social sites and media 2) information marketing and 3) paid marketing.

Social media and content marketing are good strategies to begin with as they are mostly free. However there is definitely overlap between these areas since you can have paid or “premium” subscriptions to some content marketing sites.

    Marketing Platforms

Twitter, Facebook and YouTube are the more well known of the social media platforms. These social media sites are free to join which makes it appealing to internet marketers. Social media sites will require your internet marketing plan to make time to maintain and keep your profile current. By updating your profile with current information, these social media sites “market” well.

Share your knowledge and know-how online using content marketing platforms. You can write articles, make videos, create press releases and so on. The goal of content sharing is to become a leading expert in the field of knowledge you chose.

The internet’s purpose is a collaboration of knowledge and sharing of ideas. Google was founded by two PhDs who originally created a way to search and index university publications.

Any content you share will allow you the chance to be indexed and tagged in the search engines. Your popularity online depends on many factors including the perception of your authority level.

And any paid advertising is part of your paid marketing strategy. Paid advertising isn’t just limited to PPC and banner advertising; you can do it on Facebook and YouTube. How’s that for your internet marketing plan evolution?

    Online Marketing Knowledge

Your internet marketing plan can include more than what was listed above. How familiar are you with the 3 broad areas described above? Are you already an internet marketer? Do you have an internet marketing plan in place? How do you plan to implement your strategy?

There are many questions to consider before beginning marketing. When marketing online, it is possible to spend a lot of money and have very little results. It is also easy to spend little money and get big results. It all depends on your internet marketing plan. How you implement your internet marketing plan will determine your success.

Once you create your internet marketing plan, then you can begin to implement. Once implemented, you will learn and adapt to new strategies. Good things happens around here…

    Your Internet Marketing Skillset

The foundation for your internet marketing plan will consider the following:

    1. Quantity of online sales.
    2. Number of leads generated online.
    3. Time alloted for internet marketing daily.

Beginner – Zero to very few sales online. Generated between 0-10 leads online. Can allot 1-2 hours daily for internet marketing.

Mid-level – You have made some sales online. Generated less than 100 leads. Able to market and research for 2-3 hours daily.

Experienced – Easily making sales online. You are generating 10+ leads daily. You are marketing 4-6 hours daily.

Your internet marketing plan should consider the above when making your decision. As with any marketing, online and internet marketing can be a full time effort in time, resources and energy.

Internet Marketing Plan – What To Focus On

Choose from the following broad categories when choosing on what to focus on. As a beginning and mid-level marketer, it is highly recommended that you focus on ONLY ONE from each of the categories. As an experienced marketer, you can comfortably handle two from each category.

Social Media – Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo, Myspace, Blog

Content Marketing – Video Marketing, Article Marketing, Blog, Squidoo/HubPages

Paid Marketing – PPC Advertising (Google, Yahoo/MSN/Ezines), Facebook PPC…

When considering paid media strategies, you MUST begin with a minimum of 0-0 per month in advertising dollars. You should consider paid advertising for a minimum of six months.

Good luck in your internet marketing plan and advertising efforts.

The More the Merrier – Affiliate Marketing

Learn How to Build Automated Traffic Machines

The More the Merrier – Affiliate Marketing

The Internet has changed the way we do business as much as it’s changed so many other things about our culture. What began with a military computer networking scheme that developed into ARPANET, which connected a number of universities around the United States, has turned to a necessity for both individuals and businesses across the globe. This has led to a revolution in how business is conducted. In fact, few, if any, business functions today are not in some way informed by the Internet and that is especially true in the realm of sales and marketing. When you think about online marketing, what comes to mind? Search engine optimization or e-mail marketing are probably at the top of the list, but there is something else in the marketing arsenal that you may be overlooking: Affiliate marketing.

    How Affiliate Marketing Works

At its most elementary level, affiliate marketing is a fairly simple and straightforward affair in which one business partners with another, placing an ad link on the second company’s website and paying that company for every sale that a visitor sent over from that affiliate site makes on the seller’s site.

It is a solid, reciprocal relationship. The affiliate drives customers to the seller and the seller pays the affiliate for the traffic. This type of business arrangement, where the seller pays a commission for sales leads, is referred to as revenue sharing, and has been around in one form or another for as long as large scale sales efforts have existed. It entered the world of ecommerce the same way that so many other innovations have, through the adult entertainment industry. However, while it may have begun with a company called Cybererotica, by 1994 the concept had spread into the Internet mainstream with a music company called CDNow and its BuyWeb Program.

It began, as all such ideas, as the solution to a business need. Geffen Records wanted to market its music directly to consumers over the Internet but didn’t want to actually do the job itself. CDNow developed a program that would directly link an artist’s page on CDNow’s site to the artist’s music page on the Geffen website. It didn’t take long to catch on with other Internet-based companies.

Amazon launched its own pay-per-action affiliate program in 1996. If a visitor to the affiliate followed the link to Amazon and bought a book, then that affiliate received a commission. Amazon may not have been the first on the wagon with this idea, but they were certainly the best. Their program became the model for affiliate programs everywhere and in 2000 they were awarded a patent (6,029,141) on all of the most important parts that go into an affiliate program.

The rise of Web 2.0, with the improved communications it allows, as well as blogging and the development of interactive online communities and social networking sites have changed the way affiliate marketing is conducted and have made it much harder for the criminal (or merely the unscrupulous) to make money. Today, affiliate marketing has grown into a massive industry with many new and novel types of affiliate arrangements.

    Managing an Affiliate Program

Taking an affiliate program from concept to completion requires knowledge of the audience you are trying to reach, a proper budget and, most of all, the right choice of program (or programs) and compensation package to fit your needs.

    Know your Audience

Any first year marketing student will tell you that you have to know your audience before you reach them. If you are selling a product that will appeal to a mass market, such as music or electronics, then you want a broad presence that will be seen by many people. If, on the other hand, you sell medical supplies or some other niche item, you will want to target your advertising more carefully, concentrating on the people most likely to be interested in your products and services.

    Setting a Budget

Affiliate advertising is, usually, a pay-per-action (also known as a cost-per-action or CPA) affair. In other words, something that you and your affiliate have made an agreement about happens, such as an ad link being clicked and a sale being made, and you owe that affiliate money. This is different from pay-per-click (also known as a cost-per-click or CPC) arrangements where payment is made for each click on the ad. That means, whether or not you convert that click into a sale, the affiliate gets paid. This is in stark contrast to display ads where you pay once and the more customers respond the cheaper the ad (in terms of cost per customer). Because of this, it is important to be able to set an advertising budget-especially for pay-per-click arrangements-large enough to pay for the number of expected clicks or actions, regardless of the number of sales that result.

    Types of Affiliate Programs

While there are no real industry-wide standards for categorizing affiliate marketing sites, the following is a basic list of the types of sites that are used by affiliate marketers:

Click-per-action networks are affiliates that expose their advertisers to their own network of affiliates (also known as top-tier affiliates) Search affiliates that use pay-per-click search engines to promote advertiser offers Co-registration affiliates that include offers from other companies during the registration process for their own website Blogs and RSS feeds Email list affiliates Comparison shopping and directory sites Loyalty sites that provide some kind of reward system for purchases Coupon and rebate sites Content, niche and product review sites Personal websites

    Getting Paid: How compensation works

You are paid by your customers, your affiliates are paid by you, but how? There are a number of different compensation schemes and either you or your affiliate will have a preference for one or another. In some cases the issue is negotiable, in others it is not. The various compensation schemes are:

Revenue sharing, also called “cost-per-sale” (CPS) is the compensation method of choice today, accounting for 80% of all affiliate programs today. Cost-per-action (CPA) is the second most prevalent scheme in use today, accounting for another 19% of affiliate programs. Other methods such as cost-per-click (CPC), where the advertiser pays for each click, and cost-per-mille (CPM), where the advertiser pays for every 1000 ad views, come in at 1% of affiliate programs. The use of these methods declined over the years for a variety of reasons that included the necessity to pay even though the ad failed to produce sales and, in the case of cost-per-click, fraud. These methods are, however, still used extensively in display advertisement and paid search programs.

CPS and CPA schemes have higher expectations before a commission check is issued to the affiliate. In fact, as the names imply, the customer has to buy something. Only then will the affiliate receive payment. In this arrangement the advertiser and the affiliate share the risk of the venture. It is from this model that affiliate marketing gets its other name, “performance marketing.” To make it under these rules, the affiliate must send only the best leads since it is only after a sale is made that the advertiser will reward the affiliate.

    Multilevel Programs

While the vast majority of affiliate programs are simple, one-tier affairs, it can go beyond that. Such programs fall under the heading of multi-tier marketing: An advertiser makes an agreement with an affiliate. This is the “top-tier” affiliate. That affiliate then attracts other affiliates and the deal moves down to them. Our top-tier affiliate is paid at the agreed upon rate and gets a commission on everything that the “second-tier” affiliates bring in. Any referral program that develops beyond these initial two levels is considered a multilevel marketing or network marketing scheme. Given the terrible reputation these businesses have, it is wise to simply avoid them completely.

    Finding Affiliates

It is not difficult to find affiliates. In fact, almost any website could be recruited as an affiliate. Bear in mind that high traffic websites will likely prefer CPM or CPC deals because these have a lower risk than CPA or revenue sharing. Some places to look while recruiting include:

Affiliate networks that already have a number of advertisers. These networks normally have a large number of potential affiliates for your company. Sites that are relevant for the same audience that the advertiser is trying to reach. As long as the potential affiliate’s site is not in direct competition with the advertiser, it can work. Vendors or existing customers could be recruited as long as doing so doesn’t pose any legal or regulatory issues. Affiliate program directories

    Pros and Cons

The cost-per-sale model makes affiliate advertising very popular since you only pay for results. The biggest con regarding this method of marketing is history itself. Spam, adware, spamdexing, trademark bidding, pay-per-click fraud and a number of other issues have given this kind of marketing a bad name over the years. These troubles, however, are becoming less and less prevalent due to advances in technology and better methodologies for dealing with them. This, coupled with the way one only needs to pay for results, leaves affiliate marketing as a strong way to reach the audience you are looking for.

Affiliate Marketing Success Stories – Raising an Affiliate Program Cash Cow

The following interview with Shawn Collins, a prominent expert in the
affiliate marketing field, should prove instructive to the reader. Shawn
has enjoyed a meteoric rise in the field and now runs his own affiliate
program management and consulting firm. As this interview is inherently
limited in scope, one is encouraged to read more about Shawn’s experiences
in the field and the advice he dispenses through his books, conferences,
blog, articles, reports, and weekly radio show. The reader can also meet
Shawn at the Affiliate Summit, a “can’t miss” conference for those
interested in excelling in the competitive world of affiliate marketing.

    Q. Shawn, how would you describe your initial experiences with affiliate
    marketing?

    A. It was back in 1997. I had a dial-up account on AOL, a 14.4 modem and
a desire to make more money. At the time, I didn’t know a thing about
creating websites, marketing, etc. But I went through a tutorial at AOL on
writing HTML and picked up the basics. Then, I created a hideous, single
page site about New York City and put up some Amazon links. I never earned
    a cent on that site.

    Q. What growing pains did you endure at first? What were the biggest
obstacles and challenges from that period of time?

    A. Back then, there was a monopoly on registering domains, and it cost
a year. At the time, that was a bit prohibitive for me (I didn’t
realize what a good investment a short name would be). That was a trend –
an unwillingness to invest in my affiliate efforts. I was going the free
route with tools, hosting, etc. That definitely delayed my progress.

    Q. What was your first “Ah-ha” moment? How did you incorporate the
lesson learned into your affiliate marketing business?

    A. The first time I got my reporting via email from Amazon with
information on commission earned. Back then, there was no option to login
to an interface – just a periodic email with affiliate stats. When I
realized it was real that I could earn money this way, I was excited and
motivated. This persuaded me that I was wasting my time working in
magazine publishing – it was time for me to get into a line of work that
    was stimulating and rewarding.

With my limited affiliate marketing experience, I managed to get a job
with a start-up in 1997 called Medsite.com, and I bluffed my way into
running the affiliate program there. I’ve enjoyed my work ever since.

    Q. Without mentioning names, have you joined affiliate programs that did
not keep their promises and/or provide appropriate compensation? What
measures did you take when confronted with this situation and what advice
can you give others to avoid this circumstance?

    A. Lots of affiliate programs lie in their recruiting efforts – they
talk about how easy it is to earn commission from them. That’s simply not
true – it’s not easy. I just don’t pay attention to most recruiting
efforts from affiliate programs. I would encourage affiliates to ignore
proclamations of easy earnings and high EPCs – the most important thing is
to test everything yourself and promote what works for you.

    Q. How has affiliate marketing changed in the last seven years? What
strategies would you implement now that you would not or could not do
    years ago?

    A. The industry has matured greatly. Seven years ago, many affiliate
marketers were content sites which relied on 468×60 banners. The analytics
were primitive and fewer companies offered affiliate programs.

Now, the industry is so diversified. Essentially, any way to market online
is being leveraged by affiliates… including comparison shopping,
domaining, video, SEO, e-mail, social networks, PPC, rewards programs,
    etc.

If I could turn back time, I would have started up multiple niche
community sites back then for popular topics. By now, if nurtured they
would have grown nicely and become lucrative affiliate sites.

    Q. If one is gifted marketing an affiliate product or service, is it
likely that this individual can effectively market his/her own products or
services? Should people look into developing their own items while
marketing or instead of marketing others’ products/services?

    A. I’d say anything that is already selling online can be effectively
marketed through an affiliate program. Selling your own products or
services can certainly provide more rewards in the best case scenario, but
then you’ve got a lot more risk, too.

If somebody has the infrastructure and know-how to sell a certain product
or service, I’d say to go for it. But don’t take uncalculated risks.

    Q. What are crucial mistakes that newbies tend to commit?

    A. Lack of investment and understanding. It’s really difficult to
succeed in affiliate marketing if you are unwilling to spend the time and
money required to develop a long-term strategy. And affiliate marketing is
most certainly not a quick endeavor – it takes patience to endure and
    succeed.

    Q. What are some of the creative (perhaps seldom used) strategies to
employ in the affiliate marketing field?

    A. Simply going beyond the banner. There are a lot of exciting
opportunities out there with Web 2.0. It’s just a matter of figuring out a
    unique angle.

    Q. How long does it realistically take to build a full-time income with
    affiliate marketing, assuming “full-time commitment”?

    A. I don’t think you can qualify and quantify passion. And to me,
passion is an essential ingredient in affiliate marketing success. Also,
there are so many variables, like the size of a given vertical, the
    margins involved, competition, etc.

    Q. Is it easier to build income from this type of marketing now or was
it easier years ago? (Please consider competition, Internet usage, advent
of Adwords and Pay Per Click, etc.)

    A. It was never easy. There was certainly less competition in the past,
but also less in the way of options of advertisers to choose and methods
to promote them. Plus, there is the continuing growth of ecommerce. I
think the opportunities for success are just as healthy now as they were
    years ago.

    Q. While I know that you do not recommend any particular affiliate
marketing programs, in your estimation, what are the “hottest fields?”

    A. The “hottest fields” are a slippery slope. They change over time. I
think the hottest field for any given person should be the area that
interests them most. You can certainly go out there as a mercenary and
promote the most lucrative thing at the moment, like ringtones or debt
consolidation, but I suggest going with a long-term plan in an area that
    interests you.

    Q. Is there any affiliate marketing software that is a “must” when one
    pursues an affiliate marketing venture?

    A. This really depends on the type of affiliate. There are software
programs that help optimize affiliate efforts for different affiliates.
For instance, if you’re working with data feeds, you should check out
    WebMerge.

    Q. What are your views concerning affiliate marketing networks such as
    LinkShare and Commission Junction?

    A. I think they’re the backbone of the industry. The affiliate networks
account for the majority of large affiliate programs, and they also
provide a level of convenience in that you can consolidate a lot of your
    activity under a few logins.

I would like to see them work together to establish standards. For
instance, there is a lack of standards in data feeds, which is a challenge
    for the folks using them.

    Q. Can any absolute statements be made regarding the most lucrative type
of affiliate marketing payment system (e.g pay per sale, pay per click,
    etc.)?

    A. In general, CPA seems to be more profitable, especially offers for
products and services that are not physical items.

    Q. What influence, if any, will blogs make on the affiliate marketing
    landscape?

    A. I think some are influencial in the way networks, merchants and
affiliates operate. For instance, Jangro.com is considered to have had an
impact in the decision by Commission Junction to change their plans on the
    Link Management Initiative (LMI).

    Q. What are, statistically, the best avenues to market an affiliate
    program?

    A. It depends on the vertical. Email and PPC work well for some CPA
offers, while an established web presence can be more important for
selling goods on a revenue share.

    Q. Do you see any future trends in the affiliate marketing field?

    A. Smaller affiliate programs. Affiliate managers are focusing on
working more closely with fewer affiliates. Also, I think we’ll see an
increasing number of affiliates embrace the opportunities out there with
Web 2.0 and innovate with the new tools that roll out.

    Q. What current projects are you undertaking in affiliate marketing, including
your work with the Affiliate Summit?

    A. My main focus is Affiliate Summit, the largest affiliate marketing
conference. Our last show had over 2,000 this past January in Las Vegas.
We also have events scheduled in Miami (July 8-10) and London (September
    28) this year.

Additionally, I provide affiliate management and consulting services as
Shawn Collins Consulting, and I publish an annual report on affiliate
    marketing benchmarks called AffStat.

I also have a blog at http://blog.affiliatetip.com where I post daily
about issues in affiliate marketing. And I’m the co-host with Lisa
Picarille, Editor-in-Chief at Revenue Magazine, for the weekly show,
    Affiliate Thing, on WebmasterRadio.FM.

    Q. What do you attribute your affiliate marketing success to (e.g.,
building content, writing articles, following footsteps of a mentor, forum
participation, etc.)? Please include any last words of advice for one who
aspires to succeed/excel in the affiliate marketing field.

    A. It’s all about dedication, tenacity, and relationships. I don’t look
at my affiliate marketing activity as a job, but rather a fun, profitable
hobby. Over the decade I’ve been involved in the industry, there are way
too many factors to list that have contributed to my success. But I’d say
the most important of all is to constantly endeavor to learn from others.

Conclusion – Do’s and Don’ts of successful affiliates

Analyzing the success stories, we may conclude the following do’s and
don’ts of being a successful affiliate:

    Do’s

Build a useful website. Visitors must gain some benefit by visiting
your site. Retain visitors through unique content or adding your “personal
touch.” Provide something unique / personal on a consistent basis so that
visitors will be motivated to revisit your site. Sign up with a known and established affiliate program. They have
their tracking systems updated and so you can be rest assured that you
will get your payments. Market your affiliate program so that you can increase the number of
visitors who see your affiliate offering. Optimize your website so that you get a high ranking in natural search
engines. Know your competition. You have to provide something better than
them. Choose the advertisement model that is in line with your overall
business model. Launch your site for some time, before joining any program. Good
affiliate programs may like to see your site and study the traffic before
enrolling you. Look for outside help. You may employ skilled people. Use blogs and RSS feeds for promotion. Remain active in your industry. You must know the latest trends and
    needs of visitors.

    Don’ts

Join just any affiliate program. Many affiliate programs are outright
frauds. Ignore your competition. They are the best evaluators of your
products/services. Get obsolete. Update your content regularly. Rely only on banner ads. Experiment with all types of
advertisements. Waste time. Be the first to capture any new opportunity. Encourage spamming. You will get blacklisted.

With successful identification of customer needs, providing a way to
fulfill those needs, and collaborating with established affiliate
programs, it is possible to create your own affiliate success story. You
just need to manifest a methodical, patient approach and perform lots of
hard work. But raising an affiliate program cash cow is certainly worth
    the effort!

    Internet Marketing online Strategy

    The Ultimate Internet Marketing Strategy

If you believe that you can jump in, make a website, submit it to a few directories or blogs, sit down, relax & watch those thousands of dollars (that you’ve seen in many marketers’ checks) to come, then you need to stop right there. It isn’t going to happen. You need to think: who you are and where do you want to be in the future. Whether offline or online, there are only two things that matter: “Buying” and “Selling”. Basically, to simplify, it all comes down to this:

Search engine optimization India giving internet marketing solutions and search engine marketing services, online marketing consultancy and internet advertising and raking solutions India, search engine ranking, search engine placements, each engine optimization in India. Who is your customer? What is he or she particularly looking for? You must know their problems or desires. You must be in their shoes and find out what is that would make them feel better (an offer).

Online marketing company India providing internet marketing solutions and search engine marketing services, online marketing consultancy and internet advertising and raking solutions India, search engine ranking, search engine placements, each engine optimization in India. What is your offer? Why should they buy from you? How come you’re better than the rest? Why should they trust you? Are you offering your own or someone else’s product? How will you create an irresistible offer so they beg you to sell it to them?

Think about it… There are millions of people buying online every single day. If they’re not buying from you then whose fault is that – theirs or yours?

Before you even start creating internet marketing strategy for your website(s), you need to do a research. That’s where it all begins actually. Just like in any business, you have to understand where you are and what can you do.

Search engine marketing India providing internet marketing solutions and search engine marketing services, online marketing consultancy and internet advertising and raking solutions India, search engine ranking, search engine placements, each engine optimization in India.

    Phase 1 – Online Research

    Internet marketing company

In this phase, you must research your market. Who are your main competitors? What are they doing online? PPC, SEO, press releases, develop their own products, do affiliate marketing or Adsense? What are their weaknesses? Do they offer a guarantee? Is their product really good? Do they build links constantly or not? Who is your favorite customer? Where do they hangout: MySpace or YouTube? Are they freebie seekers or desperate buyers? What forces them to buy one or another product? Read reviews, forums, testimonials to find out as much as you can about your target market.

    Phase 2 – Data Analysis

    Online marketing services India

If you’ve performed a thorough online market research, it’s time to systematize the data you have. Write down what are the main strengths and weaknesses of your competitors. Maybe you have more time than your competitors? Or maybe you know some targeted traffic source that others don’t. How might this affect your business?

Which are the places your target market usually visits? What are their main concerns? Maybe they’re not satisfied with the products in the market. Can offer something better, maybe in a form of a bonus? After that, you come to the next step, which is developing your internet marketing strategy.

Search engine marketing India providing internet marketing solutions and search engine marketing services, online marketing consultancy and internet advertising and raking solutions India, search engine ranking search engine placements, each engine optimization in India.

    Phase 3 – Strategy Development

    Internet marketing company

When you already know your target market and your competitors, you are able to start making your internet marketing strategy (or strategies). Just sit down and think about: who you are and what you can offer to the target market.

It involves a little bit of planning. What marketing methods you’ll use and which ones you can afford? PPC, SEO, email, blogging, podcasting, video blogging, webinars, viral traffic generation, link building, banner exchange or others…? You must prioritize your web marketing tactics. Find out what’s going to bring you positive ROI in the shortest time possible.

Do you have enough time to perform search engine optimization? If so, then sit and do everything you can, day in day out, to rank at the top in search engines. Don’t have time? Then buy PPC traffic and start testing your landing pages effectively.

Search engine marketing India providing internet marketing solutions and search engine marketing services, online marketing consultancy and internet advertising and raking solutions India, search engine ranking, search engine placements, each engine optimization in India.

    Phase 4 – Monitoring Performance

    Internet marketing company

When you have an internet marketing plan, you can start implementing it right away. The last step is to start monitoring your internet marketing campaigns. Which keywords people typed into search engines to find your site? Which keywords brought you the most money in PPC marketing? Are you satisfied with your SEO rankings or not? Do majority of your visitors leave your site without even spending 30 seconds? And so on…

There is no formula for an effective Internet marketing strategy. It depends on your individual situation. When you realize your strengths and weaknesses, you’ll be able to come up with a great marketing plan. No matter if you’re thinking about Adsense site, affiliate site or your own product. When you find out what you’re able to accomplish with your resources at the moment, you can create a great web marketing strategy for your online business and finally breakthrough on the internet.

    List Building Secrets Exposed!

Learn How to Build Automated Traffic Machines

    List Building Secrets Exposed!

Working to build an internet business is time consuming and very demanding. Many people get started in internet marketing because they get sucked in by the claims of making ,000 a month and telling their boss where to stick it, but they fail to realize the amount of work it takes to make a dollar, let alone ,000.

All of the experts tell you that the money is in the list, so there must be some list building secrets that will help you build a list by tomorrow, make money by Sunday, and quit your job on Tuesday, right? Well, I am here to tell you that the biggest list building secret is not really a secret at all. In fact, these so called secrets do not exist. List building boils down to two things, determination and patience.

I have yet to find any real list building secrets; however, I will share four of the worst kept list building secrets on the internet. As far as my research has taken me, here are some of the best ways to build a list.

    Article Writing

Writing articles seems to the worst kept list building secret on the internet. There are, however, things you must do and know for this list building secret to be successful for you. Posting one or two articles a month is not going to cut it. If you want serious, daily traffic, you should submit articles daily. Most of the “good” article submission sites will take days to approve your article, so if you wait for one to be approved before you submit another, you could be losing valuable, daily traffic. No traffic = no business.

    Blog and Forum Posting

Many experts say that blog and forum posting are other list building secret methods. Unfortunately, here is the drawback as I see it. When you post your link in a blog, you must wait for the blog owner to accept your comment. Blog posts are a little harder to track unless you manually keep a record of all the comments you have made and where. So far, to me, blog posting seems to be hit or miss. Forum posting is probably better for list building. If you join the right forum you will find like minded individuals who share your business acumen, and are looking for list building secrets, too. Now, I may be wrong and if I am, I would love for someone to correct me.

Using PPC or Pay Per Click

Another poorly kept list building secret is not free and if not used correctly can cost you more than you make or even more than the traffic you receive from an ad. Pay per click involves using Google or Facebook, creating an ad based on targeted keywords and paying a fee every time the ad is clicked. To me, this method doesn’t seem worth the price involved. Of course, I was using my ad simply to expose a new site and wasn’t really looking to make sales.

    Social Networking

With the advances of such sites as MySpace, Facebook, Squidoo, and several other social networking sites, people have stumbled on some really good list building secrets through the use of such sites. Social networking sites are a great way for you to add your site or offers to your profile and post your links or comments when appropriate. However, if some is lamenting over the loss of a loved one, now is not the time to pitch your list.

I get frustrated on a daily basis and have sabotaged myself by deleting at least two lists with over 40 subscribers. Why? Stupidity is one reason, and stupidity is the other. Ah, but live and learn. I started from scratch twice, but I push forward because sheer determination will not allow me to stop, that and a minor addiction to it. Don’t worry; I have a call into my doctor!

Internet Marketing Companies ? Choosing Reliable Internet Marketing Companies

Internet marketing is a double benefiting thing that benefits both the businesses and customers. Businesses can easily increase the visibility of their business with the help of internet marketing in order to achieve more customers for their business. On the other hand, customers get to find the best services and products with a simple search on the search engines.

When thinking about using internet marketing companies to target more customers, you must keep in mind a number of things before doing so. Things such as your targeted market and audience are of importance along with keywords that will be used and which type of internet marketing tool you will ask the internet marketing companies to use in order to achieve your targets.  Usually when people think about using internet marketing companies, they worry about the cost rather than the results. To tell you the truth, this is a very negative approach towards internet marketing companies. Although some internet marketing companies are more expensive than the others are, this does not means that others are providing less or low quality services.

People who are looking to hire internet marketing companies can easily locate a company that is not only affordable, but provides quality internet marketing services as well. One thing you should always keep in mind, every internet marketing company will proclaim to be professional and reliable, but almost half of them are not. Therefore, when you are searching for internet marketing companies, do a little background check on them as well. See how much experience they have or how many clients they have satisfied so far. Ask for references of previous projects / clients. Most internet marketing companies will provide it on their website, but you can always ask for it if it is not mentioned on their website.

In order to find the best internet marketing companies, you must make sure that the internet marketing company is reliable and professional. Finding the right internet marketing service provider will determine the outcome of your internet marketing campaign.

To cope with the price factor associated with internet marketing companies, off shore internet marketing companies can offer affordable prices. However, you must not ignore the fact that off shore internet marketing companies often pose a problem of proper reporting and delivering on time. Therefore, by using the same methods of identifying reliable internet marketing companies, you can identify reliable off shore internet marketing companies as well.

Internet marketing can determine the future of your online business, but to do so, you need to hire the best services to make your business visible to your clients / customers. Internet marketing companies are the only way one can achieve this. Therefore, always do proper research before hiring any internet marketing company to run the internet marketing campaign of your online business.

    List Building: The Profits

Learn How to Build Automated Traffic Machines

    List Building: The Profits

List Building The Profits List building is an essential part of online marketing and in some regards, offline marketing as well. Creating a list of customers to which you can promote your product, sell your services and send your advertisements is a key ingredient to a successful business. Your subscribers make up an essential part of your business that you cannot survive without having.

How important is list building? List building can mean the different of making a sale or not making a sale. The profits that are gained by list building and having a loyal subscriber base is very important. Businesses can fail solely based on the lack of a good list of subscribers. The lack of good subscribers means you did not have an effective list building campaign. With a good list and a single email, it is possible to create thousands of dollars in profits.

Online businesses are sometimes run by people looking to start a home based business. Home based businesses are not different from any other corporation. A corporation without customers is not a corporation for very long. Inexpensive ways to begin your list building include free auto responder programs, free websites and word of mouth advertising. Have your friends and family sign up to your list and get their opinion. Create emails that include your sign up link as well as the opportunity to forward the email to a friend. Once you begin building your list, you will watch your profits increase as quickly as your list.

Once you have an established subscriber base, it is time to change your list building technique and focus more on getting your subscribers to find you some new customers. Increasing your client base in this manner creates a domino effect if you will. Your subscribers tell their friends who in turn tell their friends and so on. This is a very effective list building technique as well.

If you want to really increase your opportunities for profits, offer your subscribers a free gift for every person they refer to you. People love getting something for free and many times will refer several potential clients to you. Make sure that your sign up form is simple and require the potential client to sign up prior to giving them the full view of your products and services. This will build your list quickly which again in turn will build your profits just as quickly.

Targeting your list to specific audiences is helpful as well and ensuring you are targeting an area where customers are buying is even more important. One could send out a million emails to customers who are not buying and never make a penny. Finding the areas of the market where customers are buying is a critical step in making a profit.
